Know Your Rights!!!!!!!!!

There is something going on in our neighborhoods that we maybe are aware and we may not be. There are illegal check points that are being held by by our local police. Police don't want to look for undocumented workers, they want to catch criminals. They want to catch rapist who violate women and young children. They want to catch murders. These checks point are in violation of Human Rights. Human rights that are rightfully given to us the day we are born. There is no such thing as race because our skin color does not make us different species. We all belong to one race and that the Human race. Knowing these truths is important for us know that we have rights that go beyond our nations rights. We have rights that being with our births. These rights cannot be taken away from unless we let them. Saying this I would like to educate all those who are afraid that you will be caught in these illegal check points. Know your rights and what you can do and what you should do:

You have the right to remain silent:
  • If you are arrested, you have the right not to answer questions
  • Do not lie. Only say your real name and: " I need to talk to my lawyer"
If you don't have papers:
  • Do not tell the Officers your legal status.
  • Don't lie.
  • Do not turn in false documentation.
  • Do not take another country documentation. If you do, the government can use this information for deportation.
  • Do not run!Remain calm.
If you are arrested, you should:
  • Know who arrested you.
  • Do not sign any documentation without a lawyer present.
  • Contact your lawyer or a family member.
  • Contact your consulate.
  • Request Bail
Know your rights!
If you are detained by immigration or the police:
  • Hand the card to the official, and remain silent. (look below for the card)
  • The card explains that you are exercising your right to refuse to answer any questions until you have consulted a lawyer.
This card should say:
To whom it may concern:
Please be informed that I am choosing to exercise my right to remain silent and the right to refuse to answer your questions. If I am detained, I request to contact an attorney immediately. I am also exercising my right to refuse to sign anything until I consult with my attorney.

For Spanish Speakers:

El derecho de guardar silencio:
  • Si lo arrestan, tiene derecho a no contestar preguntas.
  • No mienta. Solamente diga su nombre verdadero y: "Necesito hablar con mi abogado."
Si no tiene documentos:
  • No revele a los agentes del Gobierno su situacion migratoria.
  • No miente.
  • No entregue documentos falsos.
  • No lleve documentacion de otro pais. Si lo hace, el Gobierno puede utilizar esta informacion en un proceso de deportacion.
  • No corra! Mantenga la calma y tranquilidad.
Si lo arrestan, debe:
  • Averiguar quien lo arresto.
  • No firme documentacion alguna sin hablar con un abogado.
  • Comuniquese con su abogado o con un familiar.
  • Comuniquese con su Consulado.
  • Solicite fianza.
Conozca sus derechos!
Si es detenido por la policia o migra:
Pase la tarjeta al agente y guarde silencio. La tarjeta explica que usted quiere ejercer su derecho a no contestar preguntas sin consultar con un abogado.

La carta debe decir:
Estimados seniors:
Deseo ejercer me derecho a guardar silencio y no contestar preguntas. Si me detienen, solicito comunicarme de inmediato con un abogado. Quisiera ejercer, ademas, me derecho a no firmar nada sin consultar con me abogado.
